Financing Your Fertility
TrumpRx Is Here: What the Federal Program Means for Fertility Medication Costs
If you are trying to conceive and undergoing IVF (in vitro fertilization) without insurance coverage, you may have heard about the new government program designed to help make fertility medications more affordable. For many patients, medication costs are one of the most overwhelming parts of IVF. This new program is designed to help reduce that burden and make treatment more accessible for those paying out of pocket.
Between social media buzz and new federal announcements, there has been a wave of information about the new TrumpRx fertility program and the promise of significantly more affordable medication prices.
You are likely asking the only question that matters: Does this actually change the cost for my treatment?
At Fertility Centers of New England, we know that financial clarity is just as important as clinical clarity. We dug into the details of the new Federal Fertility Guidance (effective January 2026) to separate the buzz from the practical reality. Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s changing, who qualifies, and how we’ll handle the process for you
TrumpRx Launch Date & Savings: What You Need to Know
TrumpRx launched in early 2026. The core of this initiative is an unprecedented agreement between the federal government and pharmaceutical manufacturer EMD Serono. The goal is to lower the cost of fertility medications for patients who are paying out-of-pocket.
The program, executed through Evernorth’s specialized fertility pharmacies, Freedom Fertility and VFP Pharmacy Group, as well as CVS Specialty Pharmacy and several other pharmacies, offers reduced cash prices of up to 84% off the list price for specific medications.
Which Fertility Drugs Are Included in TrumpRx?
It is not every fertility medication, but the legislation covers three of the most common injectables that make up the bulk of many IVF and egg-freezing protocols:
- GONAL-f® (Stimulation)
- Cetrotide® (Ovulation control)
- Ovidrel® (Trigger shot)
These savings are brand-name specific. If your FCNE doctor prescribes these, you do not need to switch to a generic to get the lower price. We simply send the prescription, and the pharmacy applies the discount.
Who Is Eligible for the 2026 Federal Fertility Discounts?
The new government guidance is specifically designed to support direct-to-consumer (DTC) access for patients without insurance coverage for these fertility drugs. This reality often disproportionately affects our Single Parent by Choice and LGBTQ+ patients, who may face unique coverage gaps in standard insurance plans.
According to the Official White House Fact Sheet, eligibility is determined by two main factors:
- Income Guidelines (550% FPL)
The deepest discounts are reserved for low- and middle-income households. Specifically, those earning below 550% of the Federal Poverty Level (approximately $115,000 for an individual) qualify for the most significant price reductions. - No “Double Dipping” with Insurance
You generally cannot combine these cash-pay discounts with insurance reimbursement. If you have robust fertility coverage (like many Massachusetts mandates provide), your copay might still be cheaper than this new cash price. Our financial coordinators are here to help you navigate your options and keep your out-of-pocket costs as low as possible.
What if I Don’t Qualify for TrumpRx?
If you don’t qualify for this specific federal program due to income or insurance coverage, we have options to help make fertility medications more accessible.
At Fertility Centers of New England, making fertility care affordable has always been central to our mission. If the federal program doesn’t apply to you, we offer robust internal programs that can help lower your costs
- IVF Assist: Our comprehensive self-pay package offers one of the most affordable IVF options in New England ($14,300 per cycle), bundling monitoring, retrieval, and transfer costs.
- IVF Military Discounts: We offer dedicated savings for those who serve.
- Compassionate Care Programs: We work with EMD Serono’s existing “Compassionate Care” and other non-profit partners to find medication discounts based on broader criteria.
- Flexible Financing: We partner with specialized lenders like CapexMD and PatientFi to offer customized loan options that can cover treatment costs and medication.
Here’s the good news— just because the federal program isn’t an option for you doesn’t mean treatment is out of reach. Our financial team can help build a plan that works for your budget.
How Do I Access TrumpRx Discounts at FCNE?
You don’t need to navigate this alone. While pricing will be listed on the new TrumpRx.gov platform, you do not need to register on a government site to get your medication.
We want to ensure there is zero interruption to your care:
- Prescribing: We send your prescription to Evernorth’s Freedom Fertility or VFP Pharmacy Group just like always.
- Processing: Our team identifies you as a self-pay patient to the pharmacy. We then guide you through the simple manufacturer enrollment to ensure the maximum eligible discount is applied to your fertility medication order.
- Delivery: Your medication is shipped directly to you from the pharmacy.
You can fill your medication at any participating network pharmacy to receive the discount. This currently includes Evernorth’s Freedom Fertility and VFP Pharmacy Group, as well as several other pharmacies, including CVS Specialty Pharmacies.
