Advanced IVF Technology and Affordable IVF Treatment

Embryoscope Timelapse

In late February, the Cleveland Clinic Fertility Center was highlighted in an NBC nightly news story focused on the Embryoscope, which is a state-of-the-art embryo incubator system with time-lapse video capabilities. In a follow-up news article earlier this month, an NBC News medical reporter highlights the advanced technology and ability to monitor developing embryos from the time of conception to the point of embryo transfer. The reporter also notes that “Currently, the 14 facilities offering EmbryoScope charge patients the same price that they would for regular IVF. At the Cleveland Clinic, it typically costs around $16,000 per attempt.” The American Society for Reproductive Medicine estimates that the average cost of an IVF cycle in the US is $12,400.

At the Fertility Centers of New England, we were the first fertility center in the US to install, research and clinically use the Embryoscope. We also proudly reported the first US live births in both IVF and donor egg patients. However, the embryology laboratory advancements did not end with the Embryoscope for our center. In October 2012 and earlier this year, the Fertility Centers of New England installed additional advanced embryo incubators. The reality is that our embryology laboratory has evolved into one of the most advanced and updated laboratories in our region. However, even with the investment for the most advanced technology, the Fertility Centers of New England has continued to provide affordable access to advanced fertility treatment. Our IVF Assist ($13,000 per cycle) and Egg Assist ($11,000 per cycle) programs have stayed at the same price since the launch of each program in 2011. Moreover, we are able to offer patients without insurance coverage who live outside of New England or outside of the US a phone consultation. At the Fertility Centers of New England, we are proud to be pioneers in both advancing fertility treatment and providing affordable access to advanced treatment options.
